The summit
In May 2024 Rome hosted the Y7, the official youth engagement group of the G7 — organised and chaired by YAS for the Italian Presidency.
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani opened the summit at the Farnesina, alongside Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu and EY Italy CEO Massimo Antonelli, with YAS President Alberta Pelino chairing the process. Around 130 delegates aged 20 to 35, from the G7 countries and the European Union, negotiated for five days in venues across central Rome, including FAO Headquarters.
Working sessions brought the delegations together with policymakers and experts — among them Labour Minister Marina Calderone, Ersilia Vaudo of the European Space Agency and Enrico Giovannini of ASviS. On the final day, the delegates handed the Final Communiqué to the Italian G7 Presidency at Palazzo Chigi.
The communiqué
Five days of negotiation converged on a single document addressed to the G7 Heads of State and Government: an opening statement on peace, followed by the recommendations of the four policy tracks.

Equal opportunities through human-rights-centred policies: youth participation, protection from gender-based violence, disability inclusion and a fairer labour market.

Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change
Science-based action on the triple crisis — climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution — and financial flows redirected towards a greener economy.

Innovation and Digital Transformation
Innovation that safeguards democracy and accountability, protects digital users and is shared through international collaboration.

New Skills, Entrepreneurship and the Future of Work
Preparing young people for the digital and environmental transitions, with healthy and inclusive workplaces.

An open consultation gathers the priorities of young people and feeds them into the summit agenda.
March — May 2024
Global Youth Leaders Program
Workshops and policy labs prepare over one hundred young leaders. The program, co-funded by the European Union through Erasmus+, closes with its own Final Statement.

Y7 events across Italy
Public policy events in Milan, Turin and Bologna bring the G7 agenda — artificial intelligence, climate, the future of work — outside the negotiation rooms.
